Sustainable Tourism

Motueka TOP 10 - Responsible Tourism Statement

Our mission is to provide you, our guest with an enjoyable stay with the least possible impact on the environment. Our guiding principles are Kaitiakitanga and Manaakitanga; to care for, protect and manage this piece of New Zealand.

We aim to preserve the natural beauty of this Holiday Park and the wider area in order that future generations may enjoy it as we do today. This means carefully meeting the needs of today while giving thought to the needs of tomorrow. We would be grateful if you assisted us in taking care of our piece of New Zealand.

What is the most important thing in the world? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. People, people, people.

We hope you leave Motueka TOP 10 Holiday Park knowing your actions have helped us maintain and enhance our lovely region.

What we are doing:

Energy and water saving

In addition to building energy efficient facilities and buildings, we are installing devices that reduce the amount of electricity and water used in the Holiday Park.

We do this by:

  • Using low energy lightbulbs
  • Installing light sensors where possible
  • Using gas where applicable to reduce the amount of power usage.
  • Use of solar to help heat our swimming pool.
  • Reduce water and energy usage by encouraging guests to reuse their towels and request a service on demand.

We kindly ask guests to help reduce our energy use by turning off power when not in use, limit showers to 7 minutes and only request a service when required.

Recycling

Waste management stations are located throughout the Holiday Park to encourage the responsible disposal of rubbish and recycling. Throughout our accommodation, we have naked rubbish bins (no single use bags) and have opted for refillable consumables. We strongly encourage guests to recycle using the bins provided throughout the holiday park and in accommodation.

By choosing to purchase from sustainable supplier chains, we have saved over 15,000 plastic bottles from the landfill.

We have the following recycling available:

  • Glass
  • Cans
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic

Community

We actively donate and support local schools, community-based clubs and activities. This enables us to give back & support community initiatives.

We participate by:

  • Donating ex park furniture and linen to homeless shelters, Womans Refuge and local organisations
  • Providing venue hire for local events.
  • Actively supporting local tourism organisations and being a member of Chamber of Commerce
  • Being a silver sponsor for Kai Festival
  • Donating $30.00 a month to SPCA for animal welfare
  • Supporting IHC Motueka
  • Purchasing supplies from Will & Able, eco-friendly products that create jobs for Kiwis with disabilities.
  • Purchasing from suppliers who have a sustainable mission. We have saved over 15,000 plastic bottles from going to the landfill from being part of Vendellas Dream Green imitative.

Environment

We are actively involved in maintaining our protected trees and planting new gardens within the Holiday Park. We have a pest control plan in place to help preserve our beautiful trees and birdlife. The holiday park is currently going through a tree restoration in collaboration with local council to protect and preserve the native Kahikateas located in the holiday park.

We purchase products from suppliers who donate native trees back into the community to support carbon footprint.

Energy and water saving

Turn off lights and electrical appliances when not in use, re-use towels by drying them on our clothes lines, pull the cover back over the spa when not in use, close doors during cold weather to keep heat in and limit the amount of time you spend in the shower.
